Long Distance or Endurance
Swimming?

How do you define what a 'long distance' or 'Endurance' swim would be?  When I first started open water swimming I started with a mile, increasing to 2 soon after.  I thought 2 miles was a fair slog, but after going from 2 miles to 10 km I started to realise long for me was probably around this mark.
It was after reflecting on my first 10 km swim that I thought I could really push my distance and set my sights on the English Channel, approximately 21 miles, which would no doubt fit into the Long Distance bracket, but would push me into something else I hadn't considered, Endurance Swimming.

Once I had booked my slot to swim the English Channel with the Channel Swimming and Piloting Federation (CS&PF) I started my journey into understanding both what I had let myself into and what it took to prepare for one of the toughest endurance challenges on the planet!

Over the past 4 years I've been building my knowledge and experience in a number of areas that I believe will help me to achieve my ultimate swimming goal!
